Festivals that are happening in London this summer

AllPointsEast2019.jpeg

There was a very little hope that we are actually going to have any summer festivals in London this summer, after some of the major festivals, like Glastonbury have been cancelled. But sun or rain, we will be able to dance again at some of the old and new music festivals that are going ahead…

South Facing

This is a brand new series of outdoor concerts in a very unique location in Crystal Palace. The stage that's been forgotten and abandoned for a while, it looks like a 'rusty laptop' - and that's how the locals call it. It had its glory moments when artists like Bob Marley or Pink Floyd played there. Thanks to fundings, we have this stage ready for an incredible month of music. Every weekend Crystal Palace Bowl will host musicians like Dizzee Rascal, The Streets. Ghetts. WorldwideFM radio will celebrate it's 5th birthday there on the 15th of August and. Cross The Tracks festival will take over the stage with their soul and jazz line-up on the 6th and 8th of August. There will be a series of free performances during the week, too - they are called Sundown Sessions and wilbe happening on every Thursday beginning on the 12th August. There will be free film screenings curated by the Crystal Palace International Film Festival and Soho radio will also run free shows and workshops. Don't you just want to move to Crystal Palace right now to be there every evening in August?

Probably the biggest festival this summer that goes ahead this summer. Victoria Park is the place to be this coming August bank holiday weekend. It's really hard to decide which day to pick. And it turns out you can have an amazing line up for four days with domestic artists mostly! Picture this - Celeste, Jorja Smith and London Grammar in one day. The day after you will see Kano and the queens Arlo Parks & Little Simz! On Sunday, Field Day takes over - a dance music festival within a festival. Monday Bank Holiday back to see the Foals and Lianne La Havas. Boom! What a weekend. Be sure to check the Sad Night dynamite - our personal new favourite band right now.

Wide Awake

Brockwell Park will be wide awake on the 3rd of September with all the independent music coming to this beautiful south London park. Idles will no doubt make lots of noise. Expect the same from Black Midi or Shame. Get ready to discover many new bands, from psychedelic rock to jazz. There will be some electronic music too - Daniel Avery will sort you out.

Wireless is moving to its new location - Crystal Palace Park! It's the biggest urban music festival in the UK. The headliners this year are Future, Skepta and Migos. We have so many great hip-hop and grime artists in the UK and some are of course performing at Wireless - AJ Tracey, nominated to Mercury Prize Award last year Headie One, Nines or Nafe Smallz. No other festival has better moshpits!

When: 10th-12th September
